Instructions and a link to sign up can be found in mySTEDS, under Resources, on the Parent/Teacher Conference tile. Thursday, all LS students must bring lunch from home because the cafeteria will be closed. Friday, there is no school for Lower School only. Also, please be advised that parents are not required to sign up for every teacher and every class. When deciding which teachers to plan a conference with, please refer to your student's most recent progress report or report card and use it as an indicator of the need to schedule a conference. | Last Friday, in the weekly eNews, Dr. Hirstein announced the 100% Parent Participation Annual Giving Campaign that is underway, and we are seeing a great response already. For those of you who have jumped on board and made a gift, you have our most sincere thanks. If you haven't done so yet, I encourage you to do so. Annual Giving supports everything we do here for our youngest Pirates, and your participation goes a long way in making the School the best it can be! The committee’s goal is to reach 100% parent participation! So, we are making it easy. The Saint Edward’s Annual Giving Committee is helping the School with a two-week parent participation campaign. Think of it as a mini-flash campaign. We want EVERY PARENT to celebrate the School’s 60 years by making a gift of $19.65 - the School’s founding year, and we want to do this between now and March 7, 2025. Now, if you normally make a larger gift, or wish to make a larger gift, the School still needs that too, so we are asking you to make a gift of $19.65 AND the amount you normally donate or wish to donate. | Kindergarten kicked off Book Week with buddy reading. Our class partnered with Mr. Antosh's fourth-grade students, and each kindergartener had the opportunity to read with an older student. All of the students really enjoyed this activity! Big thank you to Mrs. McAuliffe for organizing all of this week's events. | The Lower School is celebrating Book Week from February 24 - 28. There are lots of fun literacy-themed activities planned, and I can't wait to see our students share their love of reading! We will have Book Character Day on Friday, February 28. The first-floor classrooms (Grades LP - 1) will have a parade, and parents of those students are invited to watch at 8:15 a.m. in the lower school courtyard. Please check your child's online homeroom bulletin board for details on the dress-down day. | Fifth grade students researched important people of the Industrial Revolution and created LinkedIn profile pages to display their findings. Students then joined a networking mixer to get to know their fellow industrialists. | After learning about three-dimensional sculptures, third graders repurposed Cuisenaire rods and made a small abstract sculpture (maquette) focusing on positive and negative space. | Grandparents and special friends joined lower school students in the science lab for an engaging, hands-on investigation of the five senses. Together, they explored the sense of sight through fun optical illusions, discovering how the brain can be tricked by what it sees. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed using the hand-held microscopes to examine a variety of objects, including coral, snake skin, shells, feathers, and even their own skin and hair! A lively smell test challenged them to identify mystery scents, from sweet vanilla to zesty citrus, while the sense of touch came to life as they felt and compared different fabrics. The sense of sound filled the room with the joyful noise of our visitors, as students and guests played with xylophones and noisemakers! This interactive experience added a special touch to the cherished Grandparent’s Day tradition. Click on this link to see the fun day! | Me siento muy orgullosa de mis adorados estudiantes!! At the end of the book, students used CANVA to create a visual presentation of what they understood from the story. They wrote a paragraph or sentences summarizing their interpretations and then presented their work to the class. SÍ SE PUEDE!! SÍ SE PUEDE!! Señora Arias | Flashlight reading in Kindergarten was a magical experience! Our classroom transformed into a cozy reading haven as students used their flashlights to explore their favorite books in the dimly lit room. The soft glow of their lights made reading feel like an exciting adventure, sparking imagination and a love for stories. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged and building their literacy skills in such a fun and memorable way. | The fourth and fifth-grade boys are having a blast playing handball this week. | Second, third, fourth and fifth-grade girls are improving their underhand serves, bumping and setting skills. They also have fun participating in modified volleyball games. | As of next school year, in grades 2 through 5, the navy skirt will be retired; the girls will wear plaid skirts and skorts only. All other uniform options for these grades remain the same.
For girls in Pre-K 4, Kindergarten, and first grade, the jumper and Peter Pan shirt will be retired from the uniform catalog. The Lands’ End Mesh Polo Dress with logo (navy or blue) remains a uniform option for these grades. Girls in grades Pre-K 4 through first grade can now also wear the Lands’ End Plaid Box Pleat Skirt or Skort to the top of the knee or Plaid Side Pleat Skort above the knee. The skort and skirt will be worn with the Lands’ End Polo Shirt, either the Rapid Dry Active, Mesh, or Interlock, short or long sleeve in white or navy with the logo. | A fifth-grade team of students won third place at the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition. The students are Samuel Bruce, Callum Nield, Grant Pickering, Ryan Morein, Will Donohoe, Harrison Brewster and Nicolás Gomez-Acebo Carney. |
